6.0 cu. ft. capacity double oven gas range with Even-Air™ true convection 4.4 5 96 96
Love it despite one issue We purchased this oven in black about 8 months ago. We love it! I love being able to use both ovens at different temps and using multiple racks in the lower oven with great results on convection mode. Convection mode is great for crispy bread crusts. Burners on top are perfect for us. Love the heavy grates that cover the whole top. We cook a lot and the large burner gets used often. As a result, the paint on the front top edge nearest to the burner has started to chip off. At first tiny cracks appeared in the finish and then suddenly it started to flake off. I'm really disappointed in Maytag for not correcting this, as I've read many other reviews of painted ranges having the same issue. Makes me wish I had chosen stainless, though I love my black Maytags and they look great in my kitchen. Just upset that a range less than a year old has a ruined finish. The material of the panel under the burner controls is obviously different (you can tell by tapping on them) than what is around the burners themselves and the finish is unaffected there. Also, the reviewers who complained about oven temps need to read their manual and use the oven temp calibration to correct the problem. Every oven is different and most have a way of changing the temp now days to match what you expect out of a certain setting. I, however, have not had a problem with temp. My tried and true recipes bake the same and in same time as my previous 15 year old whirlpool. Gas is different than electric though if you're switching so beware. February 14, 2014
Cleaning it is a nightmare Not impressed with this stove, it's ok. The biggest thing is it's very hard to clean around the burners, as compared to a flattop range--takes 12x longer. You can clean a flattop in about 15-20 sec, this one take about 3-4 min. to clean--you have to clean the 2 grills, and then around each burner and between them, which takes a lot of time and effort as compared to just quickly wiping a flattop down. Also the top oven didn't heat correctly at first, but it does now. And the burners take a lot longer to heat stuff, like boil water, than an electric range, You can only boil water on the biggest burner, and it still takes significantly longer than an electric. So, overall, I wish I had stayed with a $400 electric range vs this $1500 gas range. I was expecting something special after reading the reviews and spending so much, I really think the $400 electric is a better value and more efficient and effective. November 6, 2013
A big disappointment My family worked hard to save for this stove, since we cook every meal at home. It made sense to spend extra to get what would be best for us. This has been nothing but a huge disappointment. #1 Although the double ovens hold a large quantity of pans, it doesn't heat evenly. I have to rotate anything I have in the oven, or it will be burned on one end and not done on the other. #2 Also, the cooktop is so small, you can't fit anything on any of the other burners if you are using the middle one. #3 As soon as the warranty expired, the valve went bad on the middle burner. Not long after that, the valve went bad on the next largest burner leaving it turned on! There is no way to shut it off now except to unplug it, which leads me to the next complaint. #4 We live in a rural area, and experience power outages. I converted my kitchen to gas just so I could have this oven. I wanted to be able to at least light the burners with a match to cook if there was no power. This stove will not let me do that! When the power goes out, it shuts the gas off completely making it useless during a power outage. I'm so disappointed in Maytag. I will never buy the brand again! January 16, 2014
Great - But room for improvement I love these double ovens as we use the smaller one 80% of the time and you don't have to heat up a big oven for most items you are baking. However, this gas unit does not heat up (pre-heat) nearly as quick as our older Maytag (electric), so temper those expectations. But still very nice in many ways and cleaning the burners is easy. My biggest issue is with the electronic controls. You go through all of the trouble to hit upper oven, bake, and then set the temperature. You should be done, but then they insist on you pressing "Start". I forget at least half the time as i never had an oven that made you do all of that and then hit another button. So I find out 15 minutes later the oven never turned on and pre-heated. It drives me crazy, but I am learning…. December 24, 2013
Awesome range...but This range cooks food beautifully. I am especially happy with the convection roast feature. I have never had meat or vegetables come out as beautifully in my life. Plus being able to cook different items at different temps in the dual ovens makes a huge difference. There is one very significant design flaw. The upper oven vent is directly beneath the control panel. When the upper oven is in use, the air coming from the vent is extremely hot and makes using the controls almost unbearable. When setting the timer, I am only able to keep my hand over the vent for a few seconds at a time. This flaw is unfortunate since I would have given a resounding perfect 10 for this range. December 24, 2013
The oven and range cook perfectly. We've had this oven/range for 6 months and love it! I thought the top oven might overcook things on the bottom of the dish, but it cooks everything perfectly, right on time! We use the small oven every day! The bottom oven cooked a turkey perfectly as well. The range is fine, no complaints. Love the knobs on the front, don't have to reach across a hot stove. Have not used the convection feature. 2nd double oven range -some improvements/some disappointments I do love the Maytag quality. Double ovens a must. The burners and power is much improved. The preheat for the ovens is amazing - big improvement. Disappointed that the oven size changed considerably going to convection - cannot fit my favorite pizza pan at all. The key pad for setting the ovens is not good. No key pad to enter oven temperature. I predict the keypad to be my first repair. March 17, 2014
Below expections I had a JennAir double oven and when it quit working I knew I definately need to get another double oven. I've always had luck with Maytag appliances so when we found this one we thought it was perfect.......until we got it home and started using it. Unfortunately there wasn't a model in the store for us to look at. If there had been one I would have probably chosen a different range. Cooking & baking wise it is fine. My other oven was electric so it did take a bit to get used to gas again. A few burnt trays of cookies wasn't a big deal - learning curve right? Well it was then that I discovered there is only one timer for both ovens. I assumed two ovens so each would have their own timer. NO. Same for the broiler - two ovens so I assumed two broilers. NO. Maybe I was spoiled with my old range where each oven had it's own timer and broiler. . Those are the only drawbacks I"ve found so far. I've only had the range for just over a month. It seems to clean well enough, although I haven't used the oven cleaner yet. I'm hoping that doesn't disappoint. September 30, 2012
