Bravos XL® HE Top Load Washer with PowerWash® System
Great for large family
I love this washer becuase it holds even our bed comforters and large loads. I really love the look. I orginially wanted a front loader but started eharing negative things so I am gald this washer still has a sleek rounded design that is just as attrative as the front loaders. it is also very tall. Which is something my tall husband appreciates.
I didnt notice any change in my electic or water bill after the first month of use. I was expecting a change due to the energy savings advertised.

Best water saving washer I have seen yet!
We purchased our washer from a local appliance company. The sales people were knowledgeable and several of them had this very washer in their own homes. They explained how to load it properly and answered every question I had. It was quite different from buying an appliance from a Big Box store. We have had this washing machine for a month now and can honestly say it has never twisted the clothes, it gets everything quite clean, and it is just as quiet as the Maytag Neptune we previously had. Here are a couple of tips: when you load the washer, place the clothes evenly around the drum and make sure you can always, always see the stainless steel silver center at the bottom.
Only use HE soap - powdered if at all possible. For large loads needing more water, use the Bulky cycle. There are other machines that have more "bells and
whistles" but we certainly have not needed them to do the simple job of laundering our clothes...if I could put one washer in everyone's home, this would be it.

Can't wait to sell this washing machine and go back to the old fashioned kind!
We really DISLIKE this washing machine. It's very noisy - sounds like a jet taking off. We do not like the fact that it does not clean our clothes well. Clothes come out with lint all over them and even though we clean the wash tub out - my black things come out with a white "powdery" substance on them. I use blue liquid detergent so it's not my laundry soap. I also despise the fact that it "tries" to wash my clothes with less than a gallon of water. We live on a farm. The boys come in covered in grim and grease and we have to take that laundry over to my mother in-laws to get them clean. The last time my husband came in with muddy jeans it took three washings to get them clean. Now actually, how energy efficient is THREE washings? WE are trying to sell this machine after less than one year, so we can go back to the old agitator style washing machine where our clothes actually come clean when you wash them!

Sorry I bought it.
This machine is a total disappointment. White shirts show soil that was not removed in cycle, therefore, I put fewer clothes in a load which means I have MORE loads. I've tried different settings, more and less detergents, etc. I have no confidence that my clothes are getting clean. I have frequently conferred with technicians at the place where I purchased it. They have tried to help, but their suggestions have not solved the problems.
Sheets get twisted and balled up so badly that it takes me time and muscle to untwist them and try to balance the load. I am having to wash more loads than I used to because of the low water issue. I find myself more and more standing near the machine so that I can lift the lid to try to get more water in the tub hoping that will make a difference. I also hang around to untwist the clothes when it gets "unbalanced."
Wish I could sell it back to you. This machine is evidence of more government meddling in my laundry.

We love it--but check dimensions before you buy!
When our old Maytag finally had to be replaced (after 43 years), we searched long and hard (considering several brands) before choosing this machine. After 6 months, we are very pleased with it and would definitely choose it again. It cleans well, the controls seem logical, and its capacity allows us to wash king-sized blankets without going to a laudromat . However, I do have some caveats for those considering this machine:
1. The machine is pretty noisy. This isn't a problem for us since it's in an unfinished basement, but it might be a problem for some buyers.
2. Since we had plenty of room in the basement, I didn't pay much attention to dimensions. We were lucky that the people who delivered the new machine were strong and clever enough to get it through doors and around corners. I should have checked the entry path before buying an oversize machine.
3. Because of the machine's large capcity, I can only barely reach the bottom of it to remove clothes! I am about 5'3". Again, I'm lucky this worked out because it never occurred to me to check it.

I finally had to replace my old Maytag, which the first washer I ever purchased. It had lasted 37 years. That's right 37 years. It had become part of the family. So when I went to replace it I wanted a Maytag. I researched Consumer Reports and found out of all the top loaders this model had the best ratings. I can afford any model I wanted but felt that the front loader and glass top top loader had to much electronics to be dependable. This is the one that fit the bill. We have now had it for a few months and have arrived at the first automatic cleaning. I don't know it will ever last as long as the other, but we are very happy with the purchase. It is fast, quite and seems dependable. I have not had any problems with it going out of balance. Just use the right cycles, there are lots to choose from.
I still protected our investment with the extended warranty.
One more thing Maytag. Bring back the Maytag Man he was cool and keep making your washers in the USA that is another reason I stayed Loyal.

With Great Fear and Trepidation
After our terrible experience with the Maytag Neptune mold incubator, we were reluctant to buy another front loader. So we looked at the HE top loaders and discovered that the Maytag Bravos was the best on the market. The reviews on various popular websites were astoundingly negative. Yet we pursued the purchase of a Bravos based upon our retailer's recommendation. The first load of towels became unbalanced and never completed a balancing program cycle. So I turned the machine off and then ran a spin cycle. This worked OK. The loads for colors and whites went through their cycles fine. Everything came out clean and smelled fresh. I was told that the machine should last 7 to 10 years with normal (not everyday) use. It is very important to follow the instruction manual. We do not put fabric softener in the dispenser because people complaned that it left a scum on the inside of the machine. So we added fabric softener product to the dryer. The machine was quiet and certainly has a spacious interior. We used a half capful of HE detergent that worked well. Of course, the machine needs cleaning with Affresh or its equivalent after every 30 loads. So far, so good. I hope the track record continues to be good.

Very septic tank friendly as it uses very little water.
I love this top loader because it uses a small amount of water but continues to clean the clothes cleaner than my old agitator washer.. Also uses less soap. All around money saver and clean clothes.
