Centennial® Top Load Washer
Bad Buy - MAYTAG is Not as reliable as they claim:
I live in an apartment. My complex offers washer/dryer rental for $35 per month. I opted to purchase this Maytag washer and dryer instead. It has broken down once, under warranty, and twice afterwards. Current problem: Does not agitate load very well. Does not drain out water anymore. I never overload and nothing is obstructing the draining system. I work ridiculous hours. My clothes (as well as my son's) get very dirty between work and play. It would have been cheaper and wiser to rent at $35 per month than to have had the expense and irritation of this machine breaking down yet again. DO NOT purchase unless you are ready to run to the laundry mat and/or wash clothes by hand. Trust me - you will wind up doing both. Worse purchase EVER.

This product has just whats needed
I purchased my washer in March of this year and have had no problems. Our clothes come out clean. I love that it does not have all the bells and whistles as do other more expensive machines, who needs them. For me I want to just put my laundry in and press a button to start. I reviewed alot of washers before purchasing this machine. The only thing that was really negative was that it has a locking lid ( to all of you who complained: THEY ALL HAVE THIS FEATURE) so what if it take 3 seconds to unlock the lid so you can add what you want to the machine, I don't have a problem with this. It's a little noisy most said also, for me it's just as noisy as my last one which I had for 24 years nothing new in that I don't even notice the sound. Overall I would recommend this washer to everyone. Not only is it efficient but the price tag was in my budget range. You don't need a high price tag to wash clothing. Do the homework of reading reviews and you'll be surprised at what you find.

This has been a fabulous washer! We switched from a front-loader after 7 years of not being hugely impressed with our front-loading machine. I never would have said our clothes and towels were dirty in general with our old washer, but now that we have a top-loader again, I'm realizing how much cleaner they are. Truth seems to be that you really do need a good amount of water to wash clothes.
My only complaints are...
- that there isn't a second rinse option (which I missed since our main focus was finding a washer/dryer set that would fit in our small space and I assumed that an extra rinse was standard these days). That said, I haven't seemed to need that extra rinse with this machine despite my super sensitive skin.
- that the washer bangs around and moves when fully loaded with towels (not overly so but a good, full load)...but I knew that one going in since my mother-in-law and sister-in-law both have similar machines and the same problem.

Maytag Brand A Name that meant uality Supeior Quality
I grew up with Maytag and demanded my husband buy Maytag Washer and drier in 1982.
i still have the dryer to day, however after 30 years had to buy another washer.. So like then, I demanded MAYTAG.. This new generation of washers is not comparable to my old one. It cleans well but it is noisy and not as user friendly, It takes forever to wash but is probably gentler on clothes. Because of how it washes clothes it is easy to get off balanced and it makes a disturbing noise as if the drum is bumping against the walls. and because it is noisy and locks and is not easy to open it to redistribute and even out the load which you carefully placed evenly at the start. Also adding clothes once it is locked esp at certain points of the cycle is difficult and you can easily lose all your good detergent and water if you hold the button too long trying to get it to unlock. Oh give me back my old MAYTAG of days gone by!!!

The washer was awful
One good thing I can say about this washer is that it was easy to install, other than that, STAY AWAY! Brought it home (surprise, came with water already in it, enough to make a really big mess on the floor) Hooked it up and started the machine. Sounded like it was already broke. Hated the locking feature on the lid. Not able to leave the lid open while the water fills. What really drove me crazy was the fact that I started the load of perma press clothes, med. size load at 9:48 pm. It finally finished at 11:05 pm.
I returned it the next day. I was disappointed that Urners does refund a customer but insists that if they are disappointed in the first 14 days that they can exchange or upgrade their purchase.
Won't make those mistakes again. Find out about how the product really works compared to your last product you are replacing and what is their RETURN policy if you are unhappy.

Worst product I've ever purchased!
Where do I begin? Firstly, this machine DOES NOT get clothes even remotely clean; most of my clothes are business casual and aren't that dirty to begin with. This washer leaves whites dingy and stained. I washed a load of new white shirts only to discover it looked as if they had coffee stains all over them. Clothing gets stuck under the agitator and will leave black marks on your clothes. The liquid fabric softner dispenser clogs easily and will spin fabric softner all over your clothes. The machine is loud and takes too long to cycle. You get warm water when on hot setting; and cold water on warm setting. Called for service TWICE and no one showed up! My 20 year old Hotpoint far out performed this machine. I've never experienced this kind of product disappointment before. This was my FIRST Magytag product, and my LAST... When I replace this machine it will go to the dump; I'd be too embarrassed to even give it away!

One Hour To Wash
Bought this at Home Depot. Specifically searched for washer without LOCK LID. This was advertised as not having a lock lid. Installer said all new washers with high spin have lock lids. Takes long time to wash. I timed the Normal Regular cycle tonight for 64 minutes. The Heavy Duty Heavy cycle takes 93 minutes. Needs an END of CYCLE signal so you know when the washer is finished. I'm so disappointed in this Maytag. My Maytag Atlantis went out after 15 years and was hoping this Centennial would be similar. This is a piece of junk. Bought a GE Hydrawave last year without an agitator and gave away to a family member after two months. The HE Hydrawave with its tablespoon of water just didn't clean the clothing. I'm ready to buy a used washer from 10 years ago instead of this new junk.

Everything Great.. except..
First of all the machine does what I want it to do ...wash clothes ... and it does it well and I'm more than satisfied with it for the price I paid. I didn't want or need one of those enormous machines that require you to redesign your house or build a room around it. It's a washing machine not a car! Only one small problem I have with it and that's that the lid locks and I can't fill it with the lid open. I suppose it's a safety factor but not what I'm used to after my aged Kenmore (18 years old with only one repair during that time). If I forget that other sock I have to shut everything down in order to add it to the wash. Not really a problem, just a minor inconvenience. Other than that I love it and hope it lasts as long as my old one. Many thanks to Maytag for a great machine at a great price!
