Noisiest Washer with an Attitude
This is the worse washer I have ever have and I have owned 2 Maytag washers before this and if anyone of them would have work like this has I would not have owned the previous or this one. It has emptied out my wash water twice within minutes of filling. In the spin cycle it will make an awful noise for about 10 minutes after the water is clearly out but the hose is still moving visually, I think it is trying to pump out only air. There is an electrical smell in the air like something is overheating.
I was told by a repair person at Tamaqua Appliance that the new washers do make a lot of different noise than the old one and will take at least 1 hour to do a load but I have not mentioned to them about the smell.
Reliable Home Supply in Minersville PA just tells me I must be doing something wrong and re-read the manual. Will if it the answer is in there I cannot find it.
Plus the washer and my dryer both came with nicks on the cabins.
I wanted to get a larger capacity washer but now I wish I would have kept my great old one and/or looked for a used larger capacity washer.

Cleans Clothes Excellent, Quite & Affordable
I must say that my old Washer was American Made and it lasted for over 20 years. When it finally gave out I looked for another American Made Machine. While I don't think my new Maytag is totally & entirely Made in America: it's the best there is and I'm really happy with it. I can't believe how quite it is. I forget I'm doing laundry. I've actually thought of getting a timer so I know the load is finished. I wish it had a 'ding' when the rinse/spin cycle finished. I was thinking of selling my house & thought it would sell better with a Washer/Dryer Combo. However, I'll be taking this Maytag with me when I move and am confident it too will last 20 years plus as my old Washer did.

Love this machine!
I have no idea how old my previous machine was, it came with my home that I purchased two years ago. I didn't like that machine much, noisy is how I would describe it.
I'm so pleased with my Maytag. So pleased. I wanted the agitator feature, as I like to determine myself, the water levels and laundry level. A control freak thing, maybe? Whatever.. my clothes are clean, and the machine is quiet. Did I say I love it?
Thanks Maytag for keeping simple things simple. It works best this way.

Waste of money!
My washer is only 3 years old and makes a HORRIBLE screetching sound whenever it spins. I contacted Maytag repair and the technician told me it sounds like the bearings on the drum are going out. That repair is roughly $500, or I can purchase the oh so helpful 1 year extended warranty for $329 and they will fix it.
I spoke with a supervisor who offered me 50% off the parts if they fixed it. I wasn't happy with that answer and asked to speak with another supervisor, she refused to let me talk to anyone else.
I feel a brand like Maytag should stand behind their product. I understand my limited warranty was up and if the washer were a few years older it would be understandable for it to suffer a problem like this, not one so new.
I will never purchase Maytag anything again.

This is the second washer in two months. The first one had a defect in the cold water inlet and was taken back to the store for a replacement.
Apparently, these washers did not go through a through quality control before shipping. The first repair was for the spin cyle, which was not working. After that repair, now the washer goes through a complete cycle; wash, rinse, spin--then starts all over again on its own???
Second repair worked for about one-two cycles. Now awaitng electrical control panel replacement, which is scheduled for week of 3 Feb 14.

Would'nt buy it again
In general it is a very good productt with one excepection.
The locking system isn't neccessary . It stops one from pre soaking and if one stops the machine too long or turns it off in a middle of the water level filling when upon refilling it will completely drain and you have to start all over again. This advantage we miss in our old washer. You need to redesign this product and leave the locking system out or put a step in that alpws you to presoak and stop the machine without it draing all the water out. If I knew this ahead of time I would not have purchased this product!.

My Wife and I are extremely disappointed in this product.
I have avoided writing this review for a couple of weeks, hoping my wife could finally say something positive about her new Maytag washer, but today when the washer ruined our mattress cover (extra padded mattress cover) then enough was enough. My wife the majority user 'hates' the product. We replaced our old washer (a Maytag top loader, more than 20 years old) which was becoming more and more unbalanced and would stop often in the spin cycle. I thought buying a new Maytag washer would be the perfect solution. It hasn't been and tonight it tore a diagonal rip in our good and expensive extra padded mattress cover. Maybe, I should have had the old Maytag repaired. Things my wife specifically doesn't like is draining the water out before she finishes loading the machine if she gets interrupted by a phone call or a farm worker question (We own a a farm). The inability to adjust water level (add a little more water if needed). Not knowing exactly where the washer is in the cleaning cycle (being digital and more ASIC controlled type of device device this should have been easy to design in, even on a low-end model). However, damaging items being washed in intolerable. In the "Tag your review" section below you should have a "Poor design" or Poor Performance" tag.
On the "What brand you are replacing", you didn't list yourself?
