Cooktop Types

Maytag offers two different types of cooktops, gas and electric, in both 4-burner and 5-burner models. Gas cooktops use an open flame, offering responsive control over heat adjustments and the ability to reach the sides of some pans when cooking with sculpted pans. Electric cooktops use heated metal coils and offer a quick boil time and an easy-to-clean smooth surface.

Gas Vs. Electric Cooktops

When purchasing a new cooktop, you’ll have to decide whether a gas cooktop or an electric cooktop is right for you. Gas cooktops give responsive control over heat temperature and flame levels as well as a fast heat transfer to cookware and a quick cool down when heat is turned off or lowered. Electric cooktops offer a smooth and easy-to-clean cooking surface with more stability for pots and pans as well as faster boil and simmer times.

Cooktop Finishes

Maytag^® cooktops come in three different finishes: Black, Stainless Steel and Heritage Stainless Steel. Heritage Stainless Steel has a seven-layer stainless steel and aluminum construction for quick and even heat distribution on the cooktop.
