Note that these measurements reflect the size cutout you’ll need for installation. The units themselves will be slightly smaller in order to fit inside. Like single and double wall ovens, they are designed to be installed in standard cabinets with 22-24 inches of depth, or around 27 including handles and doors. Height generally falls between 40 and 44 inches depending on oven and microwave capacities.

27 inch models usually require cabinet cutout heights of just over 41 inches while 30 inch models can need closer to 43 inches of height.

I am thinking of replacing my current wall oven. Have single or double wall oven sizes changed much over the years?

How do I measure my current wall oven cabinet dimensions and kitchen space?

It’s best to remove your current wall oven and measure the width, height and depth of your empty cabinet cut out to ensure accuracy. WIDTH (W)

Measure the width from the left inside cabinet edge to the right inside cabinet edge using a tape measure and record this number.

DEPTH (D)

Measure and record the distance from the back of the opening to the front of your cabinet cutout. Don’t forget that oven doors and handles will stick out a few inches past the cabinet.

HEIGHT (H)

Lastly, check the distance between the top of the cabinet opening and the bottom of the cabinet opening. 

DOOR CLEARANCE (C)

An open door will add about 24 inches to the overall depth. You’ll also want to have about 42-48 inches of clearance in front of your wall oven to comfortably load and unload dishes. This is especially important if you have a galley kitchen or an island across from your wall oven.

What else should I consider before purchasing a wall oven?
